Ladies Ministry Opportunities
- Baptism Room – If you participate in this ministry, you will be assigned as one who goes with people being baptized to the changing room and helping them in any way they need there (have towels available after baptism, help them select appropriate size in baptismal attire, etc.). You would then take the wet items home to wash and dry then bring back to the church building the following week. This is assigned for a full month at a time.
2. Information Center – Participating in this ministry involves staffing the Information Center (located in the foyer) for approximately 10 minutes before Sunday School classes begin and again between Sunday School classes and the start of worship service. You would be available to answer questions or direct people to someone that would know the answer to their questions as well as hand out church bulletins, peppermints, etc. This is assigned for a full month at a time.
3. Encouraging Christians – This ministry focuses on members that are homebound. It involves calling these members, sending them a card, visiting with them, taking them a meal, or anything else you might like to do to let them know they are not forgotten. You are typically assigned one member to focus on for one year, but you are welcome to reach out to others as well.
4. School Supply Drive – This ministry occurs every summer when the church raises money and/or school supplies (list provided) to go towards people in the community that are in need of assistance.
5. Comfort and Care – This ministry focuses on members that are sick, have had surgical procedures and are at home recovering, have lost loved ones, etc. You can sign up to prepare a dish to go towards a meal for a family, donate money to purchase gift cards or food trays for a family, or both. Everyone that participates in this program is placed on a rotation schedule throughout the year.
6. New Member Welcome Bags – Gift bags with various “goodies” are provided to families when they place membership. A list of commonly-provided items would be provided for purchase to contribute to these bags, or you can purchase anything you see when you are out that you think would be something nice to include. The bags are prepared by others as needed.
7. Showers and Teas – This ministry focuses on bridal showers/teas and baby showers/teas. You can help decorate and serve as a hostess for an event, help prepare the refreshments for an event, or provide money to cover food and decoration expenses for an event.
8. Sunday Fellowship Meal Hostess – Decorating the Fellowship Hall for first Sunday meals immediately following worship is what this ministry is all about. The church has lots of decorations that can be used for any month, and lots of plastic tablecloth colors are kept available for decorating as well. After the meal is over, you would also be responsible for putting all decorations back where they came from. Church members that attend the meal are great about taking the items from the tables and placing the decorations in one area to make your collection of them easier.
9. Secret Sisters – Married ladies of the congregation are assigned a single lady/widow of the congregation to give them gifts 3-4 times per year. The “secret sister” is revealed at a dinner each fall.
10. Bible Bucks Marketplace – This is a toy store where the children in Preschool through 6th Grade can spend “Bible Bucks” they earn by being present in Bible class on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, bringing canned food for the HOPE pantry (food given out each week to families in need), memorizing scriptures, participating in Bible class, answering questions regarding the lesson presented, etc. You donate items to be placed in the store for the children to purchase.
11. Morning for the Master – A group of church ladies (whoever is available to attend as often as possible) meets at the church building on the first Tuesday morning of each month to write cards for those who are sick, have birthdays, anniversaries, lost a loved one, etc. If you cannot attend these meetings, you can donate boxed of cards to be used for this ministry.
12. Bunko Club – Church ladies (whoever is available to attend as often as possible) meets at the building on the second Thursday evening of each month for a fellowship meal and playing Bunko while enjoying Christian fellowship with one another.
13. Ladies Night Out – You can help plan activities, food, etc. for two social events per year.
14. Ladies Birthday Luncheons – Church ladies meet at a designated restaurant on the second Tuesday of each month for fellowship and to celebrate those present whose birthday is in that month. If your birthday is in that month, your meal is free (the other ladies present split the cost of your meal)!!!
15. Ladies Retreat/Ladies Day – Church ladies sign up to participate in an annual Ladies Retreat, which is an overnight event, or a Ladies Day, which is part of a Saturday, for lots of food, fun, spiritual enrichment, and fellowship with one another. The theme and all activities, snacks, and meals are planned by the Steering Committee.
